How to brand your studio for business by Themba Mtsali
1. Your Branding has to be on point:
A lot of bedroom studio engineers never look at the basics of keeping their business professional hence they make a loss in profits. The minute you start the business, you need to do the right thing in terms of protecting your business. Every bedroom studio owner has a story worth telling, the problem is that they don’t know how to brand themselves. It could be having a logo, t-shirt, a professional feel , employing more engineers and making your story be so compelling that clients will buy from you.
2. You Need to have the best equipment for the business:
Investing in your business is key as a bedroom studio owner and that also means investing in the latest equipment , from hardware to software, to also renovating your bedroom into being more professional or if you are planning to have a house/ studio, that would be a great option for you as this would set you up for success, with the right corporate signage on your house, also the latest equipment, clients will love to work with someone who is reliable and trustworthy.
3. Systemize all your processes within your business:
This goes to everyone who is either a technical sound engineer, a jack of all trade, the minute you start something, you will need to find ways to be effective and build a business, not an island. You will never do a lot of things by yourself so automate your daily processes. Build your studio for scale and invest in the technology that will drive your business to profitability. You also need to work on an effective booking system that frees you and makes you focus on managing your business.
4. Market your bedroom studios
Just because you sit in the computer all that, that doesn’t mean that your job is done as a sound engineer, you are in business, you need to sell your services to the people. You can also lease out your studio to corporations as the revenue stream, you can look into your business and find ways to grow your business, through a service that can change the game . You are not a bedroom studio owner if you hope that people will come to you. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, work on creating a virtual bedroom studio
5. Attend networking events and talk more about your studio:
The truth is, studio engineers love staying in studios all day. Guys, go out and network, go to business networking events, industry trade workshops, even business chambers, also offer value to these organizations. You will be surprised that churches are also a great place to network, Think like an entrepreneur and operate like an engineer, that’s my advice . There are people who need your services, even in country clubs and golf estates. Talk more about your studio in social media, and let people know who you are and what differentiates you from the competition
